SL Spotlight illuminates the talents and personal stories of our one-of-a-kind team members who day in and day out enable us to neurotically care for our clients. This month’s Spotlight shines on Ana Sofia Lopez.
Your role?
Project Manager, a role I’ve been in for exactly a year now. My goal is to use my communication and organizational skills and work across all our teams to help our accounts stay on track and get projects to the finish line. I have my hands on almost every single project in the agency and am the point person for everything from scheduling meetings to planning project phases to coordinating approvals to communicating with clients.
What you’re working on this month?
On the agency’s rebranding for our 30th anniversary. It’s been rewarding to be a part of an agency that honors its past but at the same time pushes ahead with innovation and fresh ideas. Stay tuned for a refresh of all our branding and much more as we mark this milestone throughout the year!
Things about marketing that intrigue you the most?
I love the whole creative process from beginning to end. It truly “takes a village” to create and convey our clients’ mission and vision in a purposeful way. My favorite thing is seeing how a well-executed idea can move the needle for our clients’ success across so many marketing and communication channels.
Most rewarding professional accomplishment?
Reworking the agency’s 30-year filing system into a neater, easier-to-use and more intuitive resource. Being able to make my colleagues’ lives easier and more efficient will always be a win for me!
Best moment at Schifino Lee?
Celebrating the beginning of the holiday season with all of my colleagues at a big night out at a South Tampa restaurant last November. While I enjoy working for our clients every day, being able to spend time with my colleagues at such an intimate event allowed us to deepen our relationships on a whole new level and made me happy about who I work with day in and day out.
Favorite book on marketing or communication?
My favorite marketing book has to be Blink by Malcom Gladwell. Although it’s not necessarily advertised as a marketing book, Blink is a great book that explores the subconscious and the decisions we make in that realm. As marketers, we all need to understand these subconscious decisions and how they affect our clients and our work. I’m a strong believer that psychology goes hand in hand with marketing and can ultimately help us elevate our clients’ offerings.
Favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Mr. Nobody. It’s about the last mortal man on Earth and explores a theory about the multiverse by looking at how different decisions can yield alternate life paths. A central theme is the challenge of choice that all people face on a daily basis and the way our choices have consequences for our lives.
What you like to do outside of work?
I love to read, cook, hike, travel and explore new local restaurants. I also love to practice and teach yoga and am a 200-hour-registered yoga teacher. Most of all in my free time, though, I enjoy being outside in nature and away from my computer.
Any three dinner guests?
Frida Kahlo, Margaret Thatcher, and Amelia Earhart, three strong and groundbreaking women, because I believe in our power to change the world. Being able to sit with these women would not only give me an insight into their life stories, which I would love so much, but also further motivate me to be the strong woman I know I am.
