SL Spotlight illuminates the talents and personal stories of our one-of-a-kind team members who day in and day out enable us to neurotically care for our clients. This month’s Spotlight shines on Jason Bryant.
Your role?
As the agency’s lead copywriter, any and all creative copy is either written by me or passed my way. Fortunately, we’ve had a great group of art directors over the years who can take our drivel and turn it into something beautiful.
What you’re working on this month?
Anything and everything. Proud of the websites we just built for a large Florida university. And excited about some great TV spots that are moving into production that I was involved in and that express the joy and freedom of boating.

Things about advertising that intrigue you the most?
The people, the unpredictable nature of each day, the shepherding of your ideas from a blank piece of paper to finished work.
Most rewarding professional accomplishment so far?
Several young creatives that I’ve either hired or trained have gone on to have big-time careers. I’d say it’s equal parts pride and envy.
Best moment at Schifino Lee?
Doing pitch work is always a blast since the gloves are off and you’re completely unrestricted. When your agency wins a piece of business off a crazy idea you had while taking a shower, it’s always a cool moment.

Job you’d pursue if not in advertising?
I often daydream about running a small coffee or gift shop high in the Carolina mountains.
Favorite vacation?
I never liked Disney. At all. But when your kids are in toddler stage, Disney vacations are the best. Now, we love spending a week or two every year in a secluded mountain cabin. And we’re looking forward to graduating to big-city vacations as they age.
Favorite movie?
I’m more of a TV guy. My favorite show of all-time is The Leftovers.

What you like to do outside of work?
My kids are 8 and 10, so doing dad stuff takes up most of my time. Back when I had time of my own, I liked to golf, fish and watch live music.
Any three dinner guests?
George Carlin, David Letterman and Sam Harris.
