In this post, the first in a series of three, Haley Agosto, a business marketing major at Southeastern University, shares her experience at Schifino Lee this summer. Why you wanted to intern at Schifino Lee?
To get hands-on experience working with a variety of clients as well as learning how to develop specific advertising strategies and tactics.
Client accounts you worked on?
Some of the big ones were Alessi Foods, Lightning Master, MGT, Pinnacle Home Care and YPO.
Two lessons you learned?
First, understand everything about your client as well as you understand everything about your target market. If you don’t fully understand your client, it will be more challenging to be able to connect the client’s messages to its consumers. Second, don’t ever let fear stop you from sharing an idea. Your idea might not make the final cut, but it might spark your team to build on it and come up with an even better idea.
Most rewarding accomplishment?
Working with some of Schifino Lee’s big clients to create marketing strategies and tactics to help their businesses. In particular, completing research for clients and coming up with ideas based on that research was definitely the most rewarding.
Advice to new interns?
Don’t be afraid to ask for an assignment if you have free time! The amount of real-world knowledge and experience you can gain from any project is invaluable.
Ideal first job after graduation?
Working for the marketing department of a sports company. It could offer a great opportunity for making connections and one day landing a job for a professional sports team, another role I’d like to experience.
Favorite movie?
Either The Wedding Planner or The Princess Bride.
Favorite vacation?
A trip to Oxford, England. It was such a beautiful place with so much history. I enjoyed exploring the city, especially the restaurants and shops.
Any three dinner guests?
Emily Henry, one of my favorite authors; Taylor Swift, one of my favorite singers; and Steve Carell, a favorite actor of mine who I think would be so funny to have during dinner!
